READ ME FIRST -- CANVAS 3.5 TypeUpdater application
The TypeUpdater is a small application that updates files that were saved in Canvas 3.5 using the Canvas 3.0 file format. The TypeUpdater updates the file type so that these files can be opened correctly in Canvas 3.0 or Canvas 3.5.
When a document is saved in Canvas 3.5 using the Canvas 3.0 file format, the document icon might appear as a blank document, rather than as a Canvas document. In this case, you should use the TypeUpdater to update the file. After a file is updated, its icon changes to a Canvas document icon (if Canvas is running when you use the TypeUpdater, the icon does not change until you quit Canvas).
You should also install the new Canvas 3.5 Exterminator tool, which eliminates the need to use the TypeUpdater when new documents are saved in Canvas 3.5 using the Canvas 3.0 file format.
To install the TypeUpdater, drag the TypeUpdater icon onto your hard disk.
To use the TypeUpdater:
1. Double-click the TypeUpdater icon to launch the application.
2. In the File menu, choose Open. A directory dialog box appears.
3. In the directory dialog box, select the file you want to update and click Open. The application updates the file.
4. When you finish, choose Quit in the File menu.
You can also select one or more files to update and drag them onto the TypeUpdater icon to automatically update the files.
